Before getting married to Sports Illustrated’s supermodel Hannah Jeter, MLB legend Derek Jeter had quite a long list of women that he allegedly dated. However, none of these relationships led to rumors about marriage, except for his brief romantic involvement with Friday Night Lights actress Minka Kelly from 2008 to 2011. There was no denying how special and intense the relationship was for Kelly. It was after having survived a disastrous childhood and quite a few toxic relationships. 

Kelly has openly talked about her relationship with Jeter multiple times. She also once made an appearance in his HBO documentary, Derek Jeter 3K. Which was extra special in its own sense because not many of Jeter’s exes have come in public. And in the recent memoir of the actress, Tell Me Everything, she has briefly written about her intense childhood and the dark secrets of her dating history.

The actress wrote about her abusive childhood. With it, Kelly also wrote about how and when she entered into the circle of toxic relationships. This cycle started off with her being in her teens and not being able to understand who was good for her.

About the experiences she learned from her relationships, the actress wrote in her memoir, “What I learned was that I needed to stop focusing on what I perceived were my partners’ flaws and begin asking myself why I kept attracting and allowing men into my life who weren’t capable of caring for me in the ways I needed as a result of their own unhealed childhood wounds.”

The relationship between Jeter and Kelly was special for both of them. Being with Jeter, the actress realized what a healthy relationship could look like. And in the end, the ex-couple realized that they weren’t perfect for each other. However, they cherished every moment they spent together.
