When the players play the game and win, fans applaud them. But sometimes, the players’ game can get a bit off-track. Because of it, some fans berate, not only the players but also their families. It happened recently with the Yankees’ shortstop, Isiah Kiner-Falefa. After a rocky start on the field, Falefa did a mediocre job later. He’s doing an average season this year, but the fans are not happy with the average.

Critics have been tough on his play but did not make any personal attacks. However, the fans did not hold themselves back and took their anger out on the shortstop and his father.
What eventually led Isiah Kiner-Falefa to get off social media?
Kiner was getting hate comments from the fans, and one day it got too far.
Here was a DM that was sent to #Yankees SS Isiah Kiner-Falefa’s father on Twitter.

One of the Yankees fans messaged the athlete’s father on Twitter, with his photo and the words, “IKF SHOT DEAD IN THE BRONX.”
IKF also was very honest about some of his previous interactions on social media with #Yankees fans: "There was just so much anger, even fans just wishing I got hurt and stuff like that, so I just got off social media. And ever since then, I've been happy." https://t.co/eM7BwmIlFC

“There was just so much anger, even fans just wishing I got hurt and stuff like that, so I just got off social media. And ever since then, I’ve been happy.” Isiah talked about his interactions with the fans.
Not liking a player due to his game or performance can be understood, but going after family members for the same is not a sensible thing to do.
Did Isiah lose his job because of his play?
New York Yankees have recently called up Oswald Peraza from the triple-A to play in the big leagues. There were speculations about him getting removed from being the Yankees’ starting shortstop.

However, manager Aaron Boone has said he would be the starting shortstop of the team. But it mattered little to Kiner if his position got changed.

By the reactions of Kiner, it can be said that Peraza in the team will not threaten him, as he wants the team to win. And it does not matter which player at what position helps.
