During the interview, Jeter said, “Let me just stop you before you just waste any more words. No chance, no chance at that. The schedule, you know imma tell you what, the schedule is brutal. Um, you know I’m not complaining, right, because I did it for a long time. But especially, you talk about being a manager or coach, I mean the schedule’s even worse. So, I, I yeah, I have no interest in that. I wanna be around as much as I can for my girls, and, and support them like my parents supported me. So, I have the utmost respect and appreciation for not only the players but the manager and the coaching staff and the front office members, but that schedule is a tough one.”
This is a huge statement from Jeter, essentially closing the door on returning to the field in any role. It will be interesting to see whether he changes his decision in the future, but at the moment his resolution seems firm. Furthermore, there was an unfortunate update on his Fox role.
