Known for his playing years in the Bronx, Alex Rodriguez never shies away from gushing about the championship-winning year in 2o09. Although it has been 14 years since the New York Yankees won the World Series, whenever getting the chance, A-Rod always goes down memory lane.

Recently, the Yankees legend sat down for a podcast and recalled the championship year with the Yanks. Notably, the 2009 silverware was not only special for A-Rod, but also for the Yankees, who ended their 9-year title drought. Talking about the championship year, A-Rod opened up in detail that it was not very easy for him to lead the Yanks to the prestigious title.

During his appearance on The Bret Boone Podcast, the former Yankees slugger detailed the sacrifice he made while winning the title for the Pinstripes. Alex said,

“It was everything for me, I had sacrificed many things as well as moved many positions, and as well as the team wasn’t winning in a while. 15 years have been a moment of cherish for me ” 

Notably, before his move to the Bronx, A-Rod was a shortstop. However, the Yankees already had a shortstop in Derek Jeter. So, considering this factor, Rodriguez had to switch his playing position to 3rd baseman. And despite this major change, the Yankees slugger only thrived in his new role, leading them to win the 2009 championship.

Alex also mentioned that

“There was a long 5 years and took 15 years have been a cherishing moment. I even have images of the winning trophy at my office”.
