Derek Jeter is enjoying his family life with his four children and wife. The New York Yankees legend stepped away from the game in 2014 and has never looked back. Since then, he has created some precious memories as a father and husband, along with his family. But his wife’s life was put in jeopardy shortly after their first child was born in 2017. 

Jeter has dealt with pressure during his baseball career and even when his sister was diagnosed with cancer. But this was a different situation altogether, as his wife or say, the mother of his child was in danger.

Derek Jeter felt the fear of losing his wife

In 2017, Derek and his wife, Hannah Jeter, welcomed their first child together. It was a momentous occasion as the two began their journey as parents. But a few weeks later, there was danger, as Hannah was in serious threat of death. In the docuseries, “The Captain”, Derek and Hannah recount the story in the seventh episode. Hannah had a hemorrhage at home and it was very bad. Derek missed a call before getting a text from 911. He rushed home and then to the hospital to get her treated. 

In “The Captain, ” Derek said, “A few weeks after our oldest was born, I was at my office in Tampa, and I got a phone call. I missed the phone call, and then I got a text with the 911.” The Yankees legend further said, “My office, fortunately, was only 5 minutes from my house. So I jumped in the car and drove home and I saw how serious it was.” Hannah chimed in, sharing details about the diagnosis, “We went to the emergency room because I had a placenta accreta, which was, I guess they didn’t notice at the time of birth.”

The surgery was three hours long but ended in success. Derek revealed they did not know how serious it was till the doctors checked in on them the next day. They revealed Hannah had almost died during the operation. Luckily, the situation ended with her being safe and healthy. The two of them have now continued building their dream family and welcomed a new addition earlier this year.

Jeter welcomed his 4th child earlier this year

Derek Jeter and Hannah Jeter welcomed their 4th child earlier this year. The couple had their first son, named Kaius Green Jeter, on 5th May 2023. Derek welcomed the newest member of the Jeter clan with an Instagram Post. Furthermore, there has been considerable excitement with his son being born, as many fans already see a baseball future for the baby. But only time will tell if he follows in his father’s iconic footsteps.
