Derek Jeter Vs Alex Rodriguez will probably be the most heated beef in baseball. Once best friends, Jeter and A-Rod had a major rift in their friendship. Jeter and A-Rod were two of the most popular MLB players who played in the same era and for a single franchise together for over a decade.
If Alex Rodriguez was one of the finest hitters in baseball, Derek Jeter was also an excellent leader in the game. When A-Rod arrived at the New York Yankees, he knew he had to sacrifice his preferred playing position, shortstop. Because the Yankees already had their captain, Jeter, playing in the same position.

While signing for the Yankees, A-Rod accepted to play as a third baseman rather than a shortstop. However, the then-Yankees captain still had a problem with the fact that why would a player who won the league MVP and Gold Glove as a shortstop will sacrifice his position? In the latest episode of ‘the Captain.’ A-Rod and Jeter confronted each other in the same.
Alex Rodriguez gave his word to play the third base for the Yankees
Notably, any player who achieved immense success at a certain position would think twice before switching to a different position. But Alex Rodriguez dared to do it for the Yankees.
And when Jeter asked A-Rod the reason for changing his playing position, A-Rod had the best reply.
“The entire dugout clears out. And him and I are the only two sitting there like a scene out of a movie. I said I came here knowing that the captain of the team and a four-time world champion was the shortstop…,” A-Rod revealed. Notably, Jeter had already won four World Series titles when A-Rod arrived.
This is all you need to watch to understand why Derek Jeter sucks. Having a problem with a guy for switching positions, FOR you? “What’s your agenda?” What are you talking about dude? Such an asshole

“I respect you and if George Steinbrenner called me into his office tomorrow and said, ‘I am moving Derek out of shortstop and I am putting you,’ I go back to Texas, I would not play. I gave you my word,” A-Rod added.

Derek Jeter appreciated A-Rod for not wanting to play shortstop
Although Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter may have a rift in their friendship, Jeter appreciated A-Rod for not making the shortstop position an issue.
“I give it to him. He never brought up playing shortstop or there were never any whispers from someone about him wanting to play shortstop… You got to give him credit for that,” Jeter said.
