Good or bad, popular personalities have to grow a thick skin to survive the attention that comes with being famous. And when someone is as famous as Derek Jeter, it is quite understandable that even he would have received harsh comments. It’s especially hard because sometimes people like to remind them how much they love or hate their team over another one.
Jeter started and ended his career in the major leagues with the New York Yankees and even served as captain from 2003 to 2014. No need to say he was beloved by most, but hated by many at the same time. The former shortstop received love and attention from the masses for all the accolades he achieved. But fans of other teams weren’t always forthcoming with their respect for Jeter.
And he had an interesting response to the haters.

Derek Jeter says he doesn’t care if you’re a Red Sox fan
Humble as ever, Jeter chatted with Seth Meyers on his show in 2016. Meyers, who is a Boston Red Sox fan, mentioned how he’s going to raise his son like that, too. And Jeter mentioned how people’s response to meeting him in public has changed, especially those who are Red Sox fans.
“You always meet people time and time, and they always say, ‘I’m sorry, but I’m a Boston fan.’ I really, I don’t care if you’re a Boston fan,” the former Yankee laughed. “That’s fine. We’re not at the stadium. Just don’t yell at me at restaurants.”
Ever since the Boston team won the World Series in 2013, fans have been going easy on Jeter as well as other rival teams. The retired athlete laughingly said he wasn’t exactly happy about the Red Sox win, but at least people started treating him better.
