The Dodgers have their 2024 World Series rings in hand, and now they’re ready to chase another one. Social media is flooded with players showing off their bling, but one big question remains—how much is that championship ring actually worth? Beyond just being a flashy piece of jewelry, what makes this ring so special? Let’s break it down.

As per the MLB tradition, the World Series champion receives a ring each year to honor the player’s special contribution to his team’s victory. The winning team, not the league, commissions the rings, which are then given to the players and supporting staff. Typically, these rings have been produced by firms such as Dieges & Clus, Tiffany & Co., and Jostens. Because the winning team commissions the ring, it serves as the inspiration for each year’s distinctive design. The winning team tries to make an impression with the ring and stay ahead of the rivals.

For reference, the 2003 Florida Marlins rings are some of the priciest in the history of the league. The ring was purchased for $20,000 eighteen years ago, but it has since sold for up to $40,000 at retail.

Well, so what about the 2024 Dodgers ring?

It turned into wearable sculpture pieces,” the Dodgers CMO, Lon Rosen, quipped about what went behind making these pieces. The ring consists of a bed of oval-shaped diamonds acting as a backdrop. The team’s LA emblem is displayed in blue jewels at the top of the massive piece of jewelry. A circle of 34 sapphires surrounds the edge. Eight additional diamonds were added on either side to honor the organization’s eight total titles. More bling is used to spell out “World Champions” at the top and bottom.

Based on prior years’ references, the 2024 World Series rings are anticipated to be worth between $25000 and $40000. This is a reflection of the craftsmanship and the valuable materials that went into making them. As per the information available, 14K gold, 34 sapphires, and 13 diamonds are used in the ring, and it was created by Jostens

Let’s take that 14K gold usually costs between $3000 and $4000/ozt, and the ring probably has between 2 and 3 ozt of gold. So the average estimated price of gold is $7000. For sapphires, it costs between $100 and $500. In the ring, there are 34 sapphires used. So the average estimated price of a sapphire is $10000.

What’s your perspective on:

Can the Dodgers' star-studded lineup secure back-to-back World Series wins, or is it just hype?

Have an interesting take?

For diamonds, let’s take a conservative price of approximately $1000 per diamond, considering the size. So we have 13 diamonds in the ring. It comes to around $13000. Lastly, Jostens is a high-end manufacturer, so let’s consider another $5000 for craftsmanship. It all comes down to $35000, approximately! While it is an estimated price, it still gives an overview of the worth of the ring.

Now that the Dodgers have their ring for 2024, will they be able to repeat the same this year?

The Dodgers are set to win the ring again this year

The Dodgers arguably have the best lineup among all 30 teams this year. They had flexed enough financial muscle this offseason to land a few big fish. The names Roki Sasaki, Tanner Scott, and Kirby Yates all got signed with the team. What’s more, is the formidable pitching rotation of the team. They got Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Dustin May, and Clayton Kershaw as the starters. Sasaki will be behind them. While Snell is a 2x Cy Young winner, Sasaki and Yamamoto are projected to have 150+ strikeouts this year. Enough to prove the strength of the Dodgers.

Shohei Ohtani is coming back to the mound this year. Hence, the team is going to get the hitting of Ohtani in addition to an extra pitcher on the mound. The five-man rotation and Ohtani joining as the sixth will be formidable enough for rivals. Moreover, the Dodgers are one of the few teams not greatly affected by injuries. Mookie Betts was the only missing link, and he is back now. Thus, they are set to field their best squad. The Dodgers’ 3-0 wins at the Tokyo Series and the Freeway Series proved what they can do this year.

Hopefully, the Dodgers can take the World Series home again this year. The fans can witness a better and more expensive version of the rings than last year.
