Starting from 2015, the 29-year-old shortstop has played two Fall Classics, and astonishingly, he surpassed everyone else as the Most Valuable Player both times. After the 2020 World Series title with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Rangers shortstop achieved his second World Series MVP in 2023. 2020 may have been a COVID-shortened season but Corey Seager was brilliant nevertheless. Somehow, that’s not all for – that year also saw him clinch the NLCS MVP award.

With Wednesday’s heroics,  Corey Seager becomes the fourth player in MLB history to have two Fall Classic MVP awards. Since the inception of the distinction in 1955, Sandy Koufax, Bob Gibson, and Reggie Jackson are the only other players who won it twice in their careers. Now, the Texas Rangers shortstop has joined these Hall of Famers.

Seager was brilliant in the last five Fall Classic games. He ended the series with .286/.375/.762 with three home runs, six RBI, and 16 total bases on six hits in five games. He took the lead in Game 5 to break Zac Gallen’s no-hitter in the seventh inning. This ultimately combined with three consecutive hits to lead the team toward their first WS victory.

However, baseball is a team game. So besides Seager, several other players share the limelight for their contribution to the massive achievement.
