The New York Yankees are a team that the world can not overlook. Mainly because of its glorious history, a star-studded squad, and passionate fans. In the 2023 season, these factors have contributed to the limelight, but for negative reasons. The team is struggling, and each day has added different puzzles. Though Aaron Judge’s return gave some hope to the Yanks, a shocking revelation about his friend’s injury has again put the team on the back foot.
Anthony Rizzo was crucial for the Yankees’ offense during Judge’s absence. But things changed after he had a clash with the offensive player, which has become the cause of his dip in form and his absence from the team. The entire episode brought the management, including Brian Cashman, under fans’ scrutiny. Already under pressure for trade failure, when the GM tried to justify this delayed revelation, fans were livid. And reacting to the failed justification, they have shown dissatisfaction in the open.

Since the start of the season, two names have faced the heat from the Yankees fans. They are the skipper Aaron Boone and the GM Brian Cashman. Though, on occasions, fans have sided with the former, especially on the issues of team buildup, the latter has suffered immense heat. The situation has only got complicated by inaction and conflicting statements in the past month.
And now Anthony Rizzo’s injury revelation and the failure of the entire staff to address it has put the team’s conduct behind an opaque screen. But according to the Yankees GM, it is not the case per the MLB columnist Mike Lupica’s latest tweet. Calling their conduct pretty transparent, Brian has tried to justify their action.
Brian Cashman on Anthony Rizzo: I think we’re pretty transparent. There’s no Hidden Ball Trick. If there was a Hidden Ball Trick, we would’ve called it something different, I guess. If we play the keep-away game, we know it’s going to bring a lot of questions.” I have one. What…

Quoting Cashman, he shared, “I think we’re pretty transparent. There’s no Hidden Ball Trick. If there was a Hidden Ball Trick, we would’ve called it something different, I guess. If we play the keep-away game, we know it’s going to bring a lot of questions.” The explanation was great, but provided no answers.
Fans also reacted to it in a similar voice after Lupica shared his follow-up question: “What in the world is he talking about?”
Fans Call Out Yankees GM for Deflecting From the Responsibility
The Yankees have not played well this season. Much of it is because of a lack of suitable options after injuries and suspensions. It has all frustrated fans who have questioned the management’s inaction to the proper solution.
The latest explanation regarding it has failed to answer their questions. Reacting to Rizzo’s mishandling, they have shared their rejections in the following tweets.
I have a better one- how is he still employed???

Horrible metaphors deployed to deflect responsibility.
Far better had he stressed how seriously the team viewed Rizzo's injury & how the team did all it could.
However, that'd likely invite more criticism and rightly so!

Why would Yankee fans think he isn't transparent? They only hid DJs toe injury until last September

There is no exact answer. Rather, for fans, he is the problem.
He sounds exactly like someone who’s trying at all costs to hide something.
