He has had the love and support of his family in every journey that he has embarked upon. The Dominican outfielder is one of the most sought-after players in MLB due to his record-breaking performances. It’s a known fact that athletes need good nutrition in order to excel in the field. Usually, it’s the team’s nutritionist who is responsible for this job. Soto, however, also credits Belkis for providing him with good food when he needed it the most. Soto loves his mother’s food. In an interview, he revealed that although he loved everything she cooked, there was one dish that was his favorite. He revealed as much to Marty Caswell

“It’s got to be the pastelon de platano maduro and the pork ribs…that’s the best things she makes for me.”

The Dominican even credits this dish for his World Series win. As the story goes, before the winner-take-all Wildcard game against the Milwaukee Brewers, his family visited him in Washington. There, amidst the discussions and well-wishes, Belkis cooked him his favorite pastelon de platano maduro.

Afterward, Soto played an iconic role in the Nats’ win over the Brews by helping them come back from a 3-1 deficit to win the game in 4-3. This set the stage for their journey towards lifting the world championship.

Now, with Soto living far away from his home in San Diego, he has said many times that he misses his mother’s food. Still, the player continues to excel on the field, having had a great 2023 season. Many teams have lined up to get Soto as he inches closer to his free agency next year. But before that, he might get traded this offseason.
