Is Aaron Judge cheating? That’s the question on everyone’s mind after watching the New York Yankees vs the Toronto Blue Jays. The Bronx team won 7-4 and Judge was one of the stars of the night. He blasted two home runs, the second one right after team manager Aaron Boone was ejected. It was the top of the eighth inning and the Yankees were in the lead 6-0. It was almost certainly going to be a victory for the Pinstripes.

But a bizarre moment that saw the Yankees captain giving side eye just before smashing a 462 feet homer raised comments. Particularly from some Blue Jays commentators, who were as befuddled as anyone. It was a strange sight, no doubt, but Bronx fans are used to tussling with Jays fans. And they’re clearly not taking any flak from Toronto.

Toronto’s play-by-play announcer Dan Shulman and color commentator Buck Martinez first brought the moment to attention. “All right, Buck, you and I looked at each other right when we saw this three pitches ago,” Shulman said, “You don’t want to go throwing allegations around without knowing, but…” It set social media abuzz with fans of each team debating what had happened. Judge, however, had a completely innocent response.

When asked about the cheating allegations in a post-game interview, the slugger didn’t know what the reporter was talking about at first. Then, he explained that he simply wanted to focus on the game after hearing too much noise from the dugout.

“Yeah I was kinda, lot of chirping from our dugout, which I really didn’t like in the situation where it’s a 6-0 game and I know Booney got tossed,” the captain said. “I was trying to save Booney by calling timeout, like, ‘Hey, hold up here, like let me work here.’ So, I was trying to kind of see who was chirping in the dugout. So it’s 6-0, Booney got tossed, let’s work now.”

Some think the announcers were just doing their job calling out a peculiar moment in the game and everyone is free to have an opinion. But Bronx fans, for the most part, are staying firmly loyal.

New York Yankees fans remain faithful to the core

Fans of the pinstriped team are often called a league of their own. Never one to back down from giving their honest opinion of anything, whether good or bad, they’re speaking up for Aaron Judge too.

One gave a sarcastic response.

Some pointed out the long-held grudges between the USA and Canada.

Some made light of the situation.

Some discussed Judge’s massive home runs.
