Babe Ruth is widely considered one of the greatest baseball players of all time. Although he played for three teams, many remember him for his time with the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. But he is widely considered a Yankee legend before anything else. He won 4 World Series titles with the team and picked up his only AL MVP award with the Bronx Bombers.

Ruth had a troubled childhood and was regularly breaking the law at a tender 8 years old. Many wonder how he became such a great baseball player. One Twitter account recently answered the question for everybody.

BaseballHistoryNut, a baseball Twitter fan page, recently shared a Tweet on how Babe Ruth was breaking the law as a child and what changed as he grew up. According to BaseballHistoryNut, Ruth was chewing tobacco and drinking alcohol at 8 years old. Following this, he was sent to reform school in hopes that he would change. But the only thing that changed was that Ruth learned how to play baseball. It turned out that Ruth was pretty good at it because it allowed him to be one of the baseball GOAT’s without changing at all.

In the Tweet BaseballHistoryNut said, “When Babe Ruth was 8y/o he was chewing tobacco, drinking whiskey, constantly breaking the law.  So he was sent to reform school, and learned to play baseball. Things stayed the same except he became the GOAT at baseball.”

The Bombino has broken countless records over the years, but many still associate him with one of the worst deals in MLB history.

Ruth was sold to the Yankees in one of the worst deals in MLB history
