The New York Yankees are the team that is associated with the glory. The Yanks have been immensely successful, be it past or the modern era, putting them in front of all other MLB teams. But there are a few chapters that go with the very same principle and their history. It includes the involvement of players in the steroid scandal. The steroid scandal was disturbing for the entire baseball world. But it hurt the Yankees fans more, who hoped for better from their star players. Their anger against this misconduct was visible in their open criticism of Alex Rodriguez, who was in the spotlight being a star player.

Amidst all, Jeter’s support to him became the talking point, and many said he knew about it from the start. But the Yankees captain was unpleased and refuted all this with a simple answer.

On page no 316, Connor describes the entire case. It read, “I mean, how am I supposed to know? Do you think if somebody’s doing something, they’re going to come tell me? I was never at a meeting, like a big group or a Players Association meeting. . . . I don’t ever make assumptions on what somebody’s doing or not doing.”

His defense of his teammates was there, but with the acceptance by Alex Rodriguez of using PEDs, everything changed. The MLB banned Rodriguez for a year. But he was not the only Yankees player accused of using the PEDs.

A Yankees Chapter That Left a Long-Lasting Mark

According to a 2018 report of nj.com, the name of Clemens was mentioned 82 times in the Mitchell Report. Though he denied using any PED, the chapter continues to follow him till now. Another name is Robinson Cano, who won the 2009 world series with the Yankees. He was suspended by the MLB for 80 games for PED use in 2018.

Although the list includes a few more notable names who faced similar allegations, the name of Derek Jeter remains clean. His only connection was when he defended his teammates as a captain.
