Playing pro means getting traded around to different teams, no matter the sport. Players get to meet people that may not only become teammates but also rivals. Only a few have the honor of playing with a single team throughout their career. Houston Astros’ second baseman Jose Altuve is one such sportsperson, who has so far only played with the Stars in his professional career.
The two-time World Series Champions and the only team to win a postseason series in six straight seasons, it’s certainly not a bad place to be. New GM Dana Brown had some thoughts about not only Altuve but third baseman Alex Bregman as well. Brown wants to keep both players in the Astros for a long time to come, and apparently, Altuve agrees.

Brian McTaggart of MLB.com recently reported that Altuve wants to keep playing for the rest of his career with the Astros, however long that may be. The second baseman’s $150 million contract extension from 2018 expires next season, after which Altuve will have some time before hitting free agency. With him being a 2017 AL MVP and part of eight All-Star teams, the Astros will do well with the 32-year-old.

When Brown spoke about Altuve and Bregman’s future, the former responded with, “I liked when he said that. Obviously, I’ve spent my entire career here and hope to retire here. I think we are on the same page.”
A long-time franchise favorite, Altuve had a great 2022 season hitting 300, with 28 homers, 57 RBIs, and 103 runs. The playoffs may not have been the best, but if history is anything to go by, the second baseman will continue to impress.

New York Yankees, Chicago Red Sox, Oakland Athletics – these are among some of the most common names in baseball that have won back-to-back World Series titles. But with the recent Astros’ performance, the Houston team may join the list.
Dominican pitcher Cristian Javier, who played a significant role in bringing the 2022 championship to the Astros, just got a five-year, $64 million contract extension. The Astros also added another pitcher, Framber Valdez, and outfielder Kyle Tucker to their 2023 roster.
