While falling in love with Justin Verlander, Kate Upton had no clue about the MLB player’s busy life. In 2016, the MLB star proposed to Upton, marking an important milestone in their relationship. Eventually, they dated for about six years before they tied the knot, and a grand picturesque ceremony in Italy awaited them. Later, in 2018, Verlander and Upton were blessed with a baby girl, Genevieve. 

The journey of parenthood has been slightly tough for Kate Upton. The couple was seen in the MLB All-Stars Red carpet appearances in July 2022. Whether it is cheering for Verlander’s achievements or being at the game to support him, the supermodel has shown her unwavering presence. However, being a wife and needing some time with her husband, she finally opened up about her relationship.

Reflecting specifically on her husband Justin’s workload, Upton expressed her feelings on the Chicks in the Office, “Being a baseball wife is absolutely insane. Like this schedule is wild, it’s so long. I didn’t know. I accidentally fell in love. I had no idea. I thought this was like a cute like summer thing,” she chuckled while admitting. Perhaps baseball players’ schedules have always been hectic. Besides playing games, most of their time goes into their training. Mostly, MLB players train six days a week, with focused sessions conducted two to three times each week.

Additionally, reflecting on the baseball playoffs, certainly the World Series, Kate added, “I don’t see him. Especially when you start getting into late playoffs, when the baseball is so exciting, but you are like, I haven’t seen my husband for months. Like they better win!” Mostly, the World Series happens in October and November. This is the time when the players get super busy as the playoff spot opens up for contention. Perhaps Justin Verlander’s World Series dedication paid off as he won two titles!

Of course, Upton has witnessed both the Championships in 2017 and 2022. Also, most of the MLB spring training starts in February, and the 162-game season lasts for six months. This takes the dates from late March to September or even early October, depending upon the schedule. Thereafter, the postseason runs for another month. Even more, being a celebrity, Kate Upton has attracted cameras while being at the stadium.

However, she has mostly refrained from the spotlight as she thinks cameras capture her pictures from weird angles. “Oh, yeah. When you’re sitting in a suite and you’re like up, up at my chin, you’re like, ‘Why do they hate me?’” she said, laughing. Perhaps, while Upton has always shied away from the camera, all the focus is on Justin as he gears up for a comeback. 

A look at Verlander’s status for the 2024 second half

While the Houston Astros are on a dominant run, they need their veteran Verlander to start pitching. Previously, Verlander debuted in 2024 against the Washington Nationals after dealing with a shoulder inflammation. However, the stint was short-lived, and he got injured again. Starting the season with shoulder inflammation, he played ten games and pitched in 57 innings. After that, he was again subbed from the team on June 15 after reporting neck soreness. Now, on a 15-day IL, the Hall of Famer is yet to return to full capacity. 

However, seeing the current status, it seems Justin Verlander is slowly making progress. “He threw 25 pitches and he threw all of his pitches: fast ball, change up, and slider.” Joe Espada, Astros manager, said. Starting his bullpen session at the Minute Maid Park, Justin seems to look good. On Sunday, after a long injury, Verlander took the mound and pitched for the first time since last month. 

 Also, in the American League West, the Houston Astros are in the second position. This is commendable, especially when the team struggled 25-12 since June 1. Currently, they have a PCT of .521 with a 50-46 win-loss ratio, they are set to contest for the 2024 World Series playoff berth. 

Ultimately, Kate Upton might have to struggle for time yet again as the second half of the MLB season is about to start. Nevertheless, what would be more joyful than witnessing her husband Verlander bag the World Series title, probably the third one of his career?
