Things are looking up for the baseball team Texas Rangers. Despite being at the top of their division, The Lone Stars are having a tough time. Most recently, the Rangers made a bold statement as the Pride month peaked. While the other teams and sports celebrated the Pride month, the Rangers went a different way. Shortly after them taking the stand, the team had to face strict umpire scrutiny, although their decision on the pride month has nothing to do with this.

On June 16, during a game with the LA Angels, the bottom of the seventh inning became an absolute nightmare for the Rangers. It was the final game of a four-game series, and the Angels had the lead with two wins. Notably, it was an important game for the team to maintain its lead in the division. Little did they know a minute at the bottom of the seventh inning would become a travesty for the team.

When the seventh inning was about to end, the Rangers had the tying run on the third with one out. Their leadoff hitter Marcus Semien was at the plate, and Angels’ ace Chris Devenski had taken the mound. With a count full in his corner, Devenski threw a changeup low that Semien started to swing at. However, the first base umpire, Ramon De Jesus, ruled it as Semien going around.

It was indeed a controversial call. But the matter became even worse when Semien complained to De Jesus and got himself ejected from the game. Within seconds, pitching coach Mike Maddux ran from the dugout and toward Semien and De Jesus. He also got shown the arm. Next came the Rangers’ manager Bruce Bochy, taking a stand for his team, and in a span of a minute, he got the third ejection.

After getting three ejections in one quick succession, the Lone Stars couldn’t help themselves and succumbed to the blow and ended up losing the game. Despite this, the Rangers continue to be at the top of their division, AL West, with 43 wins and 27 losses in their corner.

What decision did the Rangers make?

Out of all the MLB franchises, Texas Rangers is the only one which has never had a pride night or a similar event tied to them in one of their home games. And this year was no different either.

Therefore, when the Los Angeles Times enquired about the same, a representative of the Rangers responded by email, saying, “Our commitment is to make everyone feel welcome and included in Rangers baseball. That means in our ballpark, at every game, and in all we do — for both our fans and our employees. We deliver on that promise across our many programs to have a positive impact across our entire community.”

It was not the first time for the Rangers to give a statement like this. Because back in 2021, they gave the same statement to the Dallas Morning News on the same topic. Things might not be looking good for the Rangers, but they sure know how to overcome it.
