Even though the San Diego Padres might not be creating wonders in the ballpark right now, one of their minor league teams is leaving the fans stunned. If reports are to be believed, the Friers recently promoted a 16-year-old prospect to the Low-A, the fourth-highest minor league team.

The teenager proved his team’s decision to put him into Class-A right, as he started showing off his immense skills in the beginning. Such talent, no matter the age, often gets a welcome to the senior team, and the Padres promoting their young prospect is an example of how teams add talent to their roster.

Although getting selected to play at any minor league level depends entirely on the athlete’s skills, the average age for a baseball player to play in Class-A ranges from 18 to 22. Despite this, the Padres promoted their 16-year-old catcher, Ethan Salas, directly to Class-A, also known as Low-A.

The Padres took to their official Twitter handle to announce this news. As they did so, they told their fans that he’d be making his debut that same day. To their and fans’ delight, Salas proved his selectors right by picking up his first pro hit in his first at-bat. 

Notably, within moments of the Padres posting the video of their teen player, a wave of joy spread through the Padres’ fans, making them happy for their team’s future.

Sixteen is an age when a person is probably in their sophomore year of high school. Hence, being good enough to get selected to play in Class-A is a big achievement for the young man. Therefore, as happy and proud Salas’ family would be of him, Padres’ fans also feel the same.
