Home/MLB

It’s been a few days since ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball took a bizarre turn. It was the New York Mets vs the San Francisco Giants and the KayRod Cast was on. Amid a rather forgettable season, the Mets made a series sweep at long last. But there was another event that overshadowed the moment. A fan accidentally fell over the railing, delaying the game by a few minutes. But strangely, neither Alex Rodriguez nor Michael Kay commented on it.

MLB fans were none too happy with the incident and let the broadcasters know exactly how they felt on social media. However, apparently as a dig at the backlash he received or possibly unaware of it, A-Rod is sharing a glimpse of the night.

Is Alex Rodriguez simply blissfully unaware?

For the retired New York Yankees player, social media is a tool he utilizes often. Now that he’s back from hosting MLB’s London Series, the retired ballplayer also reunited with Michael Kay. Although the Sunday Night Baseball discussion is usually popular among some, especially when guests like Derek Jeter make an appearance, July 2nd was something of a disaster. But one wouldn’t be able to guess it from Rodriguez’s latest Instagram story.

A clip shows a behind-the-scenes look at Rodriguez in the studio, surrounded by lights and cameras. The former Yankee can be heard discussing the Mets and their current season failures despite being the highest-paid MLB team. The caption of the story shows a video camera emoji and reads, “BTS: Last nights KayRod Cast on @ESPN 2” with a tag for Kay’s profile handle.

Now the question is, did A-Rod post the clip unaware of the situation around the night? With Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo as a guest among a host of other speakers, the night was expected to be a big hit. They earned fans’ ire by refusing to speak about the incident at Citi Field.  Sunday Night Baseball with KayRod has also received a refusal of recognition from an unlikely source.

SNY’s Sal Licata knew nothing about KayRod

For many, the city of New York is not big enough to host two teams even if they come from different boroughs. Most baseball buffs either prefer the Mets or the Yankees and they’re diehard fans of whichever team they support. The same goes for Sal Licata, cohost of SNY, the Mets’ primary network.

Alex Rodriguez and Michael Kay are of course strongly connected to the Yankees; the former played for the franchise while the latter is a Bronx Bombers host. Understandably, Licata is not a fan. In fact, prior to the events of July 2nd, he apparently didn’t even know about the existence of KayRod.
