The saga between Chicago Cubs’ ace Marcus Stroman and the New York Mets seems to be a never-ending one. Following up on the Mets not signing Stroman after the 2021 season and his sour departure from the team, the Cubs ace has taken multiple shots at the organization until now. The most recent one came when Stroman replied to the Mets’ legend Keith Hernandez’s comment on not giving up his jersey no 17 if and when the Mets sign two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Stroman blatantly called the 5x All-Star a dinosaur. Shortly after his comment about the Mets legend, Stroman started to receive some serious criticism. Following this, the 32-year-old shared a rather cryptic post about the billionaire rapper Jay-Z.

Notably, the New York Mets are one of the top contenders to acquire the two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani in the off-season. On this, Hernandez denied letting Ohtani use his jersey number, which got retired last year. This then prompted Stroman to say, “Ohtani deserves 17 wherever he goes. Imagine losing Ohtani in free agency because some dinosaur wouldn?t give his number up. Lmao.”

It is not the first time that Stroman took a shot at the Mets. And if history is any proof, it probably won’t be the last time either. However, this time, he not only dissed the Mets but also the Mets Hall of Famer. Taking to Instagram, Stroman posted the clip of Jay-Z sitting in one of the podcasts and talking about being self-aware.?

In the video, the billionaire rapper is saying,?“I don’t have anything to prove. I know who I am. I’m a very self-aware person… When you engage with ego,… it keeps on escalating. But if you don’t engage, you’re giving light to the darkness.”?From the looks of it, posting this video seems to be an answer to all the criticism that Stroman’s been getting lately. However, it can also be the ace’s way of saying that he is not affected by anyone easily.
How is Stroman doing this year?
Currently, on a five-start winning streak, Stroman has struck out 85 batters in 102.1 innings. One of the things that he aced at is limiting walk-offs. This season, Marcus has a walk rate of merely 2.5%, the lowest of his career. Overall, Marcus Stroman, in his second year with the Cubs, is having a successful year. However, despite going through one of his best seasons, he does not seem to have moved on from the New York Mets.?
