Baseball is a physically demanding sport; so, injury is inevitable in this sport. Hence, necessary precautions are always to be taken care of for athletes during any game. And in a game of baseball, not only the player, but the audience sitting on bleachers are also at risk of getting hit. And with the new season around the corner, be ready for such incidents. Even the ongoing spring training game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Oakland Athletics witnessed something similar.

The Reds were winning the game by all means. In the end, the score was 12-4. However, in the ninth inning, the Red’s catcher, Chuckie Robinson, hit a foul ball that struck a fan in the bleachers.

While wanting to make sure the fan was alright, Robinson, after the game ended, went to check on the fan. As he ensured the fan had successfully avoided an injury and was alert and talking, he came back to him with a surprise. As he returned, he brought with him a pair of bats to give to the fan.

Notably, the fan must have felt a little better with Robinson’s nice gesture toward him. However, after learning about the gesture, another Reds fan had a somewhat strange request.

Not the first time a fan got hit during a baseball game

The Athletics Reporter, C. Trent Rosecrans, posted about the scary incident on his Twitter handle. Soon as it went up, a baseball fan came up with an old memory. Almost a decade ago, in one of those bleachers, the Twitter user Joe got knocked out by a ball during batting practice in Cincinnati. Reading that the Reds’ fan, after avoiding a horrific injury, got two baseball bats as a gift prompted Joe to ask the whereabouts of his baseball bats.

Here is how Joe and others reacted to the friendly gesture by Robinson.
