The father-son dominance in MLB continues. The baseball world is familiar with the powerful stroke of Vlad the Impaler, aka Vladimir Guerrero Sr. His awe-inspiring offensive production earned him a Hall of Fame induction in 2018. And now, his son Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is following in the same footsteps.

Jr. has been dominating the league with the Toronto Blue Jays and has his dad’s hitting prowess. Although they didn’t play simultaneously, the Guerreros have already broken records. In 2021, they became only the second father-son duo to have a 40-home run season in their careers in MLB history. They’ve set yet another record, and Guerrero Sr. couldn’t be more proud.

In the history of MLB’s Home Run Derby, no father-son duo had ever won the championship before yesterday. The Guerreros can now boast the honor of being the sole holders of the title. The Blue Jays first baseman had a challenging go of it as he faced the league’s best. But he was determined to win after the 2019 upset, where Pete Alonso won the Derby despite Guerrero’s impressive performance.

Guerrero Sr. didn’t have a lot of advice for his son except for “Hit homers.” And Guerrero Jr. understood the assignment. At his ballpark, he beat Julio Rodriguez, a Seattle Mariners favorite, to win the semifinals. Although J-Rod set a record for single-round homers, the win went to the Canadian.

Is it any wonder the son earned much-deserved praise from Dad?
