Occasionally, in the MLB, a season emerges that leaves even fellow players in awe. Such is the case with Ronald Acuña Jr.’s extraordinary 40-70 season. This is a feat that has ignited conversations across the baseball world, this time particularly between two Los Angeles Dodgers players. The discussion both of them had, especially about their fellow players, was indeed thought-provoking.

Among those captivated by Acuña’s performance is none other than Freddie Freeman. Despite sharing the field with another MVP contender, Mookie Betts, Freeman’s allegiance lies firmly with Acuña. Freeman’s opinion is rather an interesting one. Acuña’s effect is so commanding that it earned him the comment, “We would never have been in that spot without him”.

In Freddie Freeman’s recent talks with WILD ATV Story, posted on Bleacher Report YT channel, he reveals his unfiltered opinion. The 40-70 season that Ronald Acuña Jr. achieved is nothing short of remarkable. In the eyes of Freeman, the concept of a 40–70 season is almost unimaginable, which suggests that Acuna is simply running everywhere. This $100 million Braves player’s ability to not only reach the 40-40 benchmark but surpass it with an astonishing 70 stolen bases paints a picture of a player operating at the pinnacle of his physical abilities. For which, Freddie goes on to elaborate further.

Freeman notes, “His strikeout rate has dropped drastically, and um so those are just like balls in play now, that’s better chances, yeah so he’s putting way more balls in play“. This approach to Acuña’s game has solidified his status as a powerhouse, elevating him to the ranks of a well-rounded player. Isn’t that what one wants, especially when the MVP chase gets more cutthroat by the day?

In this heated MVP battle, Mookie Betts undeniably stands as a daunting contender. Nevertheless, it’s Freddie Freeman’s unwavering support for Acuña Jr. that speaks volumes about the impact this 25-year-old has had. That too, not only on the Braves’ success but also on the admiration of the Dodgers.

As the baseball world watches which player ultimately clinch the MVP title, it’s hard to ignore a little irony dating back to 2022 that has remained in the shadows of this whole discussion.
