When you talk about the Los Angeles Angels, all the eyes and attention instantly fall on their two superstars – Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani. Together, the Trout-Ohtani combination carries Anaheim, but when the two of them are unable to perform, the Angels’ roster looks like it’s falling apart. And that’s exactly what happened when an experienced Dodgers starter got the better of both the sluggers.
In the final week of Spring Training, as the Angels took on the Dodgers, nine-time All-Star and Los Angeles Dodgers veteran walked through the Angels roster with six scoreless innings. Among his many victims were both Trout and Ohtani, and that’s not a good sign for an Angels fan.

As cold wind brushed past Clayton Kershaw, the reputed lefty starter managed six scoreless innings, with his two popular victims being Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout in the first innings itself. The 35-year-old, who’s been with the Dodgers for over two decades now, got 15 swinging strikes in his 74 total pitches.

Notably, in the game, Kershaw struck Mike Trout out on all three encounters.
While talking about his performance in the game, Kershaw said, “The slider was definitely better. I threw some bad ones, too, but overall the consistency was better with it. I got some swings and misses. Overall, it was a good step forward for me.”
Kershaw, on the other hand, is among the most successful pitchers in the Dodgers and MLB history, with multiple years still ahead of him. So, for him to put up a performance like this is not surprising, but fans expected better from their two superstars.
Fans did not take kindly to this poor display in the box:
Naturally, fans weren’t happy to see Trout and Ohtani fail in the box. As a result, anger and dissatisfaction surrounded the replies of this video displaying Kershaw getting the better of both in the first innings. At the same time, a few other fans pointed out Ohtani’s eventual future in the Dodgers setup.
