The Yankees are making all the noise yet again, but this time for some good reasons. It has been a couple of years since Anthony Volpe made his debut with the Bronx Bombers, and since then there’s been no turning back. Volpe managed to win the American League Gold Glove award at shortstop in his rookie year, and being surrounded by superstars made him what he is today. And his growth and transformation have surprised the Yankees more than anything else.

While Volpe continues to do his best in the major league and try to fill in Derek Jeter’s shoes, which may be too early to judge, the synergy between his veteran leadership and emerging talent indeed promises a lot for the Yankees at present and in the future as well. Now that Volpe has shown a great promise, the team can surely handle the age crisis in the field perfectly. So, what made Volpe so special?

Well, Anthony Volpe is always talented and aggressive; however, he used to be afraid to show his actual mettle, despite his shyness and reluctance to appear and speak in front of the public properly. But now it’s been changing, and Volpe has managed to come out of his conservative nature. Not only has he been developing a resume consisting of twenty home runs, that too as a rookie player, but he also won the Golden Glove award, making his way to the World Series. The Yankees’ manager, Willie Randolph, has instilled faith in him, citing, “He’s ready to be himself. And he’s going to keep getting better and better.” But this isn’t enough for a transformation. Isn’t it?

Volpe has come to the camp, turning out much larger and more muscular while standing up straight, and it’s truly a great physical and behavioral transformation, isn’t it? Definitely, but Volpe would still like to face more fastballs. Volpe’s batting average increased from.209 to.243 in 2024, and he would like to have better control of his bat path to the right center, which would ensure better control over the strike zone and establish further confidence in him too.

Despite Anthony Volpe’s transformation that made the Yankees look like a formidable force to reckon with, the club faces some injuries from players.

Anthony Volpe can be a game changer amid the latest injuries in the Yankees

The New York Yankees’ shortstop Anthony Volpe has a mediocre record with the team in the first two seasons, where he posted 228/.288/.373 slash line along with 323 strikeouts and 94 walks. Despite having 33 home runs in his name, he made 33 errors, which balances the good and bad in him. However, in the upcoming 2025 season, a lot to expect from him, as the Yankees’ lineup has been marred by injuries recently. But why?

Well, the Yankees’ Giancarlo Stanton has been out due to injury, and manager Aaron Boone is hopeful of Volpe to make a significant impact this season. It might even just turn out to be his best season, given that Volpe hit a home run so hard against the Philadelphia Phillies’ reliever Matt Strahm, which had an exit velocity of around 110 mph. That gives a hint of how Volpe has been showing good signs of transformation, and not to forget his .286/.407/.408 slash line in the World Series Championship.

However, amid the injury of Juan Soto and losing out on Stanton, everyone’s participation will be equally needed along with Volpe’s power-hitting to make it to the playoffs in 2025.
