Today, 14-time All-Star Alex Rodriguez is one of the most popular voices in Major League Baseball. His success as an entrepreneur and prominent media personality post-retirement has undoubtedly made him an inspirational and influential voice. With Tatis’ suspension in 2022, A-Rod’s remarks on Tatis Jr. did not age well. However, there is some truth to what A-Rod said, considering the record Bebo, aka Tatis Jr. has maintained. Alex Rodriguez and his Flattering Comments on Tatis Jr.
During the interview with?Pardon My Take?in 2020, A-Rod was all praises for Fernando Tatis Jr. He said, “He (Tatis Jr.) is our LeBron James in the making, following in the footsteps of Mike Trout.”?Further, he adds, “We need more Tatis’, let’s promote them.”
Two years down the line, in August 2022, these comments have not aged well. Bebo has been out of action due to a wrist injury the entire season. Just as the Padres were beginning to expect his comeback, he tested positive for Clostebol, a banned substance. Following this, the MLB suspended Tatis Jr. for 80 games. Apart from covering the remainder of this season, the Padres shortstop will be out for the start of the 2023 season too.
For starters, A-Rod’s prediction falls flat solely crediting LeBron James‘ non-existent association with steroids or any PEDs. In addition to that, fans drew a parallel between A-Rod and Tatis Jr. as today is A-Rod’s 6th retirement anniversary.
Notably, former Yankee legend A-Rod had accepted his steroid consumption. Subsequently, he faced a 162-game ban.
