Earning a rival’s respect may be the highest sign that one has truly made it. For a sport like baseball, talent is unlimited. Skilled players make it to the big leagues every season, leaving people impressed with their proficiency. Rivals are easily made, but when they pass a compliment from the depths of their heart is when it really feels worth it. And newest Pinstripes captain Aaron Judge recently experienced the same during the ongoing spring training.

Judge made his Major League Baseball debut in 2016 and seven years later, he’s well on his way to establishing himself as a legend. The 6ft 7in Yank is a pro when he’s in the field and even managed to break a long-held American League home record in 2022. Playing for the Bronx usually means an automatic acceptance in New York. And while most of the state might love him, Judge recently received some well-earned recognition from Atlanta too.

Spring training is underway before the 2023 season starts in full swing. The Yankees have been brushing up on their skills and adjusting to new players and new MLB rules. Things seem to be going well because, in a recent game against the Atlanta Braves, the Pinstripes demolished the other team 7-0.

And in his first game since being named captain, Braves manager Brian Snitker praised Judge profusely, “I just admire the hell out of that kid. He plays the game the right way, he presents himself the right way. He’s everything good in what we’re doing here.”

Marly Rivera from ESPN also reported that Snitker truly admires the captain in Pinstripes and wanted to make an introduction properly.

2022 was the year that Judge was slated to hit free agency. He might not have been a Yankee this coming season, but fortunately for the lifelong Bronx fan, he signed a nine-year $360 million deal. And coming to the plate as the no. 2 hitter, the 30-year-old couldn’t be happier. It was certainly a memorable game, made even more so by Snitker’s effort.

Talking about how the appreciation is mutual, Rivera reported Judge saying, “It was amazing, because I’ve been a fan of Brian for quite a few years. I have always loved his passion for the game, how he sticks up for his players, also manages the game the right way. To see somebody appreciate your craft, and appreciate your hard work, there’s no bigger compliment.”
