The Angels eventually won the game 11-3, dominating the opposing pitchers and putting on a show. Ohtani was at the center of it, with his home run. This is a huge win after a rough start to the series against the Athletics with a loss. But this game highlighted an issue that has plagued the Angels for years, despite Ohtani getting back to his best batting form.

The Angels’ supporting cast is inconsistent

The Los Angeles Angels have failed to qualify for the postseason since 2014. This is because outside of Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout, their supporting cast is not good enough. For years, their role players have underperformed and disappointed, leaving the Angels stars stranded. This has continued during the 2023 season, with inconsistent performances from the team’s supporting players.
