However, sometimes even a significant player like Scherzer is allowed to have an off day. The Mets ace was not at his best in his recent outing against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Scherzer was the starting pitcher for the Mets in the first game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Unlike his previous games, Scherzer did not have a great game from the mound, and as a result, the New York Mets ended up losing the game.

Not only did the Mets lose their crucial game, but Max Scherzer also snapped his impeccable record from the mound. The Mets’ ace has been instrumental for the Buck Showalter-led team. His experience and brilliant performance have helped the Mets to dominate the National League East.
Max Scherzer did not make any excuse for his poor outing against the Philadelphia Phillies
With Jacob deGrom already out because of injury, Scherzer has been leading the Mets from the mound. His record speaks volumes about what he is capable of. Before the Phillies game, Scherzer was on a personal unbeaten streak.
Whenever he started from the mound, Scherzer’s team would win in the last 24 games. But the streak got snapped, as the Mets lost the game 3-2 against the Phillies. Known for his grounded nature, Scherzer humbly accepted and did not make any excuse.

“Heck of a run. Obviously, it takes your teammates to be able to do that but it’s also cool to be a part of it…,” Scherzer said. “I just will not make an excuse for anything. My job is to go out there and compete and win under any circumstances, any conditions.”
