Hearts Melt as Royals’ Rising Star’s First Career Hit Takes an Unexpected Twist With a Touching Gesture

Firsts are always a chance to make things memorable. The young star player of the Kansas City Royals did precisely that with his career’s first hit. Last night, the Royals played their second game of a three-game series against the LA Angels. While the Royals are in the last position of AL Central, the Angels are in the third place in the AL West. Therefore, every game that the Royals play is crucial for them. And their recent game not only brought a win to the Royals but also gave a memorable moment to the rising star. 

However, as soon as the Royals’ 24-year-old Samad Taylor got his career’s first hit, an unexpected twist came from one of his teammates. As it happened, it instantly won over countless baseball fans. 

What happened at the Kansas City Royals game?

Last night, the Royals were playing their 70th game of the regular season. As said before, the game was crucial for the team. And at one point, winning the game looked impossible because the Angels were leading by 8-2. However, things turned around quickly, and the Royals managed to tie the score 9-9. But the game wasn’t over yet.

Royals’ second baseman Samad Taylor had just come to the plate, and Angels’ ace Chris Devenski threw him the pitch. On his third at-bat of the game, Taylor got his career’s first hit, which coincidentally also became his first walk-off win. But the twist hadn’t come yet.

Moments after hitting the first walk-off win of his career, when the team was celebrating, Taylor’s teammate, shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. saw the ball lying somewhere on the field and saw no one going after it. This popped an idea into his head, and without giving it much thought, Witt sprinted to get the ball. As he returned, he had an ear-to-ear goofy smile on his face, happy for his teammate, and he gave it to him. Shortly after the pictures of this unexpected twist went on Twitter, they became viral, making the moment extra special for Taylor and the team.

While both the Angels and Royals are having one challenging season, last night’s game became extra special for the Royals. With his career’s first walk-off win, Taylor became the second Royal to do so in his first hit of his career. Aside from this, with last night’s win, the Royals broke their long losing streak. On top of all this, Bobby Witt Jr.’s amazing gesture for his teammate came as a bonus for the team and baseball fans.
