Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani are the two strongest pillars the Los Angeles Angels have. Although with a huge fanbase, these stars enjoy appreciation for their performance, sometimes they also get mocked them for their statements. After Ohtani got injured during the last game vs. Cincinnati Reds, his fans have been mocking Trout for his Tweet regarding the impending Free Agency.

During their last game on Wednesday, the Los Angeles Angels’ designated hitter got a his UCL torn. While fans have been worried about the future of their superhero, Mike Trout’s optimistic statement about him has invited mockery.

Having fans is a real blessing for players as they support their idols and fight for them at times. However, sometimes it may go extreme with their not being hesitant to brutally mock others to support their favorite player. Something similar happened to Mike Trout after his statement went on-air, where he was questioned about the injured Pitcher’s Free Agency. Mike’s response reflected optimism about Ohtani getting back to the Los Angeles Angels, “I haven’t really thought about what it’s gonna be like without him because I hope he comes back.”

The comment section filled up with negative comments saying the Angels will not only lose the Playoffs but their best player too. One fan mocked Trout for this statement, saying, “Mike head in the clouds Trout.”

While fans have been fighting and mocking on Social Media, the future of this Japanese sensation has really got under uncertainty as the team’s general manager declared that he can’t play for the remaining season.

But the doubt still persist, will this brutal injury affect Japanese two-way phenom’s much-anticipated free agency?

Is Shohei Ohtani’s Injury An Opportunity for Alternative Acquisitions in Free Agency?

Per the MLB history, it is apparent that front offices are unlikely to invest in intangibles. Their focus is on a player’s production in terms of statistics, that give out a clear picture of what a player brings to the table. And after Ohtani’s ulnar collateral ligament tear in his right elbow, not only his remainder season but also his free agency is uncertain.

Should the Ohtani injury have an effect on the Dodgers, the San Francisco Giants, the Seattle Mariners, and possibly even the Angels, it might create an opportunity to allocate funds towards alternative acquisitions.
