Leveled at 5-5, Derek Jeter walked to the box in the final innings of the game, and his entire 20-year-long career in Pinstripes. From the script of a storyline with the perfect ending, Jeter walked in. And living up to his reputation of being clutch, the Yankees captain smashed a walk-off single to take the New York Yankees over the line against the Baltimore Orioles.

Three years after Jeter announced his retirement, the Pinstripes front office made an easy and unanimous decision to retire the five-time World Champion’s jersey number two, and add a plaque with his name to Monument Park. At the same time, MLB’s official beer, Budweiser, released a television commercial that retired the number two from across New York City.

When he left the park, everyone had tears rolling down their face.

In a fitting tribute to the New York Yankees legend, Budweiser spanned the entire City of New York with a sign of number two with the background of Pinstripes. A Twitter page dubbed “RE2PECT 2 JETER” recently uploaded the video after multiple years and found an emotional response from the grand Jeter fan base.

Budweiser left no stone unturned in capturing the sentiment of a chapter closing in the city that never sleeps. From buildings in the heart of New York City to billboards, car license plates, bars, restaurants, clocks, street names, and even precinct names, the beverage giant covered it all in a video tribute to Derek Jeter. The video showcased Jeter’s first hit and his final, unforgettable walk-off, resonating with the end of an era for all who saw it.

Does any Derek Jeter ad compete with his Gatorade ad film?

Upon his retirement, shortly before his final match, Derek Jeter uncomfortably hit the streets of New York to shoot an ad with Gatorade. In the ad, the Yankees shortstop interacted with all his fans, who followed him extensively for the last twenty years. However, this ad came close enough to compete with the Gatorade ad shot in 2014.
