Earlier this year, star shortstop Carlos Correa surprised the baseball community by signing for the Minnesota Twins. Notably, a player as good as Correa who has won the World Series and played for one of the strongest MLB franchises, the Houston Astros, no one expected him to sign for the Twins.

Even though he signed a three-year deal with the Twins, Correa?s contract allows him an opt-out in the first two years of his contract. And this being the case, the Twins shortstop can sign for any other MLB franchise after the ongoing season.

Although it is too early to call whether Correa will leave the Twins after the 2022 MLB season, MLB pundits are expecting the San Francisco Giants to go after the star shortstop.

Do the Giants stand a chance to sign Carlos Correa?

It is no secret that Carlos Correa is probably the finest shortstop in the MLB market. Considering he is only 27, he has at least eight years of prime baseball left in his career. However, he will not come cheap. And that was the main reason Correa left his former team, the Astros.

While discussing Correa?s chance to join the Giants, baseball analysts discussed this possibility in the Giants Postgame Show.

?I mean Giants fans rarely get a chance to see this guy play. He is to me the complete package; he hits for average, he hits for power, he is a Gold Glove shortstop… He is not gonna be cheap, he is the most expensive infielder in baseball history… People expect him to opt-out,? one of the analysts said.

With only 15 home runs from the plate and 42 RBIs, Correa is not having his best season. But still, if the Giants want him, they will have to pay his massive wages, which will not be easy. Currently, Carlos Correa earns $35.1 million a year at the Twins. And while talking about his possibility of joining the Giants, the other analyst said no.

?I don’t know if he will opt out because he is not having a Carlos Correa-type year, right? …the home run numbers are not there, the RBI numbers… So, will he find somewhere to match with that option would be next year in $35 million? My guess would be no?,? the baseball analyst added.
