Surprisingly or not, the New York Yankees made their way, and outbid the San Francisco Giants, with emotions and opulency. Moreover, Aaron Judge starting with the Orange and Black on opening day wouldn’t be the greatest sight for any MLB fan. Now, the Giants are moving to save their offseason and it seems like the Pinstripes are interfering again with another free-agent superstar.

As stealing the outfielder wasn’t enough that the Yankees are now entering the bidding war for superstar shortstop, Carlos Correa.
Initially, the World Series winner shortstop was expected to go to Chicago on a massive deal. But now, multiple franchisees have entered Correa’s bidding war. The mighty Yankees included.
How did fans react to the possible arrival of Carlos Correa?
This information was initially reported by ESPN’s Buster Olney. Michael Kay hopped on to this Correa train shortly after as well. In the Willard and Dibs podcast, Olney elaborates on the Giants, who haven’t offered anything to Correa yet, and are still in talks. Moreover, he talks about other teams that are on the lookout for the 28-year-old SS. And the Giants left the winter meetings as Carlos Correa’s favorites. But now, with a new entry into the signing battle, anything can happen.

The MLB insider adds that he’s catching some wire about the Yankees planning something big, and Correa stands as the biggest free agent in the market currently. Olney said, “I just know the Yankees are working on something big and maybe it’s Carlos Correa.”
Naturally, New Yorkers are excited to see such big news. And Correo could be the most fitting shortstop since Captain Clutch retired. This is how fans reacted to this new rumor in MLB town:
He is the villain we need!

Michael is getting info similar to what Buster has. Kay specifically name dropped Correa as well https://t.co/C23ws6RGNh

If they sign Correa, to me that says they're going to swing Peraza and then some in a Bryan Reynolds deal.

I have a better chance of being picked to join an oil drilling crew to land a space shuttle on an asteroid and blow it to smithereens saving planet Earth than Carlos Correa does being signed by the Yankees 🚀☄️🌎⚾️ pic.twitter.com/jZeJAZp8mE

I feel like this happens every off-season. Yankees working on “insert big name here” and it never happens.

Carlos Correa is a clear and obvious fit for the Yankees. If they want to contend with the Astros they have to get him. He’s the Anakin to the Evil Empire. #yankees

BREAKING: Carlos Correa FAILS physical with Dodgers, signing with Astros instead.
"I went for a massage and it didn't go too well but I should be ready for Spring Training. I'm having my second child so I want my second ring so the kids don't need to share. Then I'll bag chase."

Chris Cotillo has the Carlos Correa to the Red Sox scoop, trust. https://t.co/rBSu32lvO9
— Craig Teed (@craig_teed) December 10, 2022
Notably, during the 2022 offseason, Correa signed a three-year contract with the Minnesota Twins worth $105 million. After the end of 2022, Correa opted out. And is back on the market.
Why do the New York Yankees need Carlos Correa?
Out of all the shortstops the Yanks have housed since Jeter’s retirement, they have not benefited from any of them, their current SS Isiah Kiner-Falefa in particular. Notably, IKF, who grew up as a Yankees fan came to New York in 2022, started 142 games, and faced 483 at-bats but managed only 126 hits, 48 runs batted in, and four home runs. When the Yanks re-signed him, fans were furious. Just like this:
We have traded prospect Ronny Mauricio and Matt Allan to New York (AL) for Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Josh Donaldson

no one gives about that shit anymore. Carlos Correa is 10000x better than Isiah Kiner-Falefa https://t.co/MviiguKLSM

The Boston Red Sox are finalizing a deal to acquire star shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa from the Yankees, sources tell ESPN. The Red Sox have a new face.

True, it’s not my money, but since the Yankees wasted 6 Million on Isiah Kiner-Falefa, why not spend a few more to sign a pivotal component to a championship run? Rodon is a must! I hope they do not go after Michel Brantley. I rather have Oswaldo Cabrera on LF.

Hence, Correa, who’s a two-time All-Star, World Series Champion, Golden Glove, Platinum Glove, and Fielding Bible Award Winner, stands as an ideal choice for the shortstop position in the Bronx.
