While recalling his then-record deal, a ten-year $252 Million contract with Texas Rangers, Alex said, “So it was interesting when I signed my contract to become a Texas Ranger. Because of the 10-year deal, Tom Hicks was looking for an insurance company. So of course, he had one lifeline he called Warren Buffett.”

Alex then shared that after all this discussion, Warren’s assistant Debbie asked him to come up to Omaha and have lunch with Warren Buffett. He accepted the offer, starting a friendship that has grown stronger over the years. The 2009 World Series Champion focusing on it shared, “And that started a string of four or five years where I would go every year and we would always spend four or five hours in his office and then we would always end the night with dinner. And then he himself would drive me to the airport and say goodbye, and that’s Warren Buffett.”

Although there was much more to these meetings, Rodriguez once focused on Buffet’s impact in shaping his business acumen.
