Is Jackson Holliday the next Golden Glove star, or just another young talent finding his way?

Jackson Holliday is a star child – his father is all-star dad outfielder Matt Holliday. But it doesn’t mean he has a cookie-cutter approach in life. Jackson always dreamt of making his mark in the big leagues, and this season, he was a top prospect, so, all eyes were on him now. But his performance wasn’t the best, and he faced struggles throughout, with a.189 batting average, .565 OPS, and just 69 strikeouts in 208 appearances. Sure, numbers aren’t all that high, but he is building that experience.

Holliday must learn from his mistakes for acing the upcoming season and secure his spot as the second baseman of the Baltimore’s Orioles. But for now, the season headaches are all left to the side – Jackson Holliday is enjoying his off-season hanging around with his friends. And like any gathering with friends, a burst of laughter broke out—this time due to the golf shot that the Orioles star had taken.

Jackson didn’t take the field during the Baltimore Orioles brief postseason stint. However, even he must have felt the sting of the quick exit as the team suffered fighting against the Kansas Royals. But, now with the off-season, he likes many players who are not sitting idle, but instead delving into other sports. We have seen Mookie Betts bowling, and for Holliday, it’s golf! Jackson Holliday was spotted enjoying his time creating more memories with his friend on the golf grounds. And in one lighthearted instance, caught on camera, he and his friends were laughing at a misfired shot that bounced his way.

The shocking part is that he caught the ball! Killer reaction time – even Holliday was amused as he claimed, “Well, I don’t have to go very far to find my ball.” Meanwhile, his friends made light of the situation, saying, “The shot looked great on camera,” appreciating Jackson’s quick reflexes. It’s not just his friends talking about it; even the fans online acknowledged that insane catch of the returning ball with the post going viral.

A confused Instagram user said, “He golfs righty?” Well, it’s not uncommon for players to dive into some other games during the off-season. This is to keep those competitive juices running. But it doesn’t mean that they mess up their core muscle memory! Hence, Jackson is likely to avoid the risk to his left baseball swing, keeping that sharp for the upcoming season.

One Holliday fan wrote, “Golden glove things,” and there is no lie in the statement! This season has been monumental for Halliday. He kicked it off the season as a top prospect, and rose into the big league at just 20, like an offensive rock. He has played 57 games for his team during his two stints, covering for the regulars like Ramon Urias and Jordan Westberg. While he still has plenty to do, he sure is a talent. That catch of a returning golf ball says a thousand words. So fans are surely coming from a great viewpoint—he might be a future Golden Glove star!

Another commenter poised a hilarious comparison and said, “Jackson Holliday looks like Boss Baby grew up.” Here Boss Baby is that animated character, and the user must be comparing him to Holliday given that the baseball player is just so young. He is 20 and still has those baby features. His team also treats him like a baby, calling him a ‘baby bird’. Plus, we have seen that the Baltimore Orioles, when celebrating their playoff win, welcomed their youngest star with sparking water, not champagne. Holliday partook in a more “PG” version of the celebration!

One fan proudly noted, “Norfolk Tides legend.” And Holliday is somewhat of a hometown hero right now. He had shown immense potential in 2023 with the Triple-A Norfolk Tides. Then, he was great at playing his role in the International League title and Triple-A championship. His contributions led him to get this ‘legend’ title, just so early in his blossoming career.

Another user commented, “Guy really knows how to play the hop when it’s coming hot off the lumber.” And well, he is the son of a former All-Star. Matt Holliday, his father, had nine postseason appearances in his 15-year MLB career. Of course, his dad must have taught him the ropes from early on. Plus, not to mention those experiences, we bet handling tough balls is his forte.

The upcoming season is going to be epic for the star; he is not just going to be a year older, but a year more experienced. It’s going to be a thrill to watch him in action. Are you excited? Share your take in the comments.
