Once upon a time, Aaron Judge was going to play for the San Francisco Giants. A Northern California native, the outfielder grew up watching the team with his family. However, fate intervened and Judge ended up becoming a Yankee. He did so well with the team that he is currently the 16th franchise captain. The Yankees have been struggling lately though, while the Giants just shut out the LA Dodgers with an overwhelming 15-0 victory.

Although a New Yorker now, Judge still enjoys coming home from time to time and playing on the West Coast. While the latest series there didn’t go so well for him, he still considers California home. Judge’s family lives there too, and he revealed a surprising fact about them recently.

And the latest series at Dodger Stadium seems to be going terribly for the home team. After losing the series opener in an embarrassing loss, fans had hoped the second day would be better. Instead, it was even worse as the Dodgers got shut out.

And Judge’s dad, who used to be a fan of the LA team, now supports San Francisco. Smart move probably. In an interview with the Dodgers’ Mookie Betts, Judge revealed who his dad supports and why. “My dad grew up in Southern California so any time he gets the chance to come out to Dodger Stadium and check out his old stomping grounds, he eats it up. When he was growing up he came to a lot of Dodger games, I think he snuck in a couple times.”

But things did not stay the same. “He had some fun down here but – it was crazy – once he moved up to Northern California, he flipped to a Giants fan quick. I couldn’t believe it. He still enjoys it,” the Yankees captain finished. What a full-circle moment it would’ve been if Judge had ended up playing for the Giants!

Aaron Judge was once headed to the San Francisco baseball

2022 was a year of surprises for Yankee fans. It was the year of Judge’s free agency and everyone wanted him to stay in the Bronx. But since it took a while for the Yankees to agree to his contract terms, he also looked at other teams. In addition to the San Diego Padres, the Giants were among the top choice.
