Whether Alex Rodriguez makes it to the Baseball Hall of Fame will remain a question until MLB writers vote for the same or the former Yankee completes his ten years eligibility quota. It is something that only MLB writers can decide.

Apart from his Hall of Fame induction, A-Rod’s fans also wish the Yankees to retire his jersey number #13 to honor their legendary player. However, it is not as easy as it sounds. Considering his involvement with PEDs (performance-enhancement drugs), the Yankees would not risk the image of their organization.

Talking about the same, ace radio commentator, Don La Greca, discussed whether A-Rod should have his jersey number retired or not. And it is up to the Yankees organization, whether they want it or not. But it will not be easy. Because during his PEDs scandal, Alex Rodriguez warred against the Pinstripes.

Will the Yankees even consider retiring the jersey number of Alex Rodriguez?

While answering an A-Rod fan, Don La Greca said the same. Because there is still a section of the Yankees fans who do not like A-Rod for what he did. And for these reasons, the Yankees might not retire A-Rod’s jersey number.

“If you base it on the numbers, yes! If you base it on how the fan base feels about him, you tell me… How do you think the fan base feels about him? He did sue the team he played for?… Do they love him or hate him? Would they want that number there with the greats whoever played?” La Greca said.

Per the ESPN Radio host, fans might forgive him for his rift with Derek Jeter. But they might forgive him for tarnishing the image of the Yankees organization.

“Forget about him slapping the ball out of Bronson Arroyo’s hands, and the things he said about Jeter… The numbers say he is one of the great Yankees of all time. But he did lie, he did cheat…,” La Greca added.
