Juan Soto leaving the Bronx and heading to crosstown rivals the New York Mets was painful for fans. Well, they have almost now turned their backs on Soto and are even calling it good riddance! After the loss, the Yankees pivoted quickly, signing Max Fried and only now getting someone who could fill in Soto’s shoes: Cody Bellinger. But amongst all the chaos, one name came forth, and it’s Mike Trout.
The off-season is always full of rumors, proposals, and insane ideas; hence, this is no surprise. The topic of whether Mike Trout fits perfectly in the Yankee lineup has been a huge topic. What makes it even juicier is that Trout’s idol growing up in Millville, New Jersey, was Derek Jeter. So, a move to New York could be a poetic next chapter for Trout, but it seems like this rumor is just that and doesn’t have the weight to come true.
No MLB insider has reported any news of any developments going on. Plus, Trout’s move seems questionable given he is loyal to the Los Angeles Angels in this era when team hopping is a reality. While Trout is still one of the best talents in baseball, he has several shortcomings, making a deal with the Yankees look far-fetched.

An X account posted a picture of Mike Trout in pinstripes. But would the Yankees want Mike Trout? That is a real question. While Trout hasn’t played a full healthy season since 2019, he has just around 100 games played in the last two years. Plus, he isn’t at the prime age too; he is entering 33. So durability is a major concern; making a deal seems more like a gamble.
Moreover, the elephant in the room is the massive contract of Mike Trout. He has a 12-year, $426 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels. It’s not big; it’s almost colossal. And Hal Steinbrenner has already hinted at financial strain at the Yankees—taking such a huge contract as this wouldn’t be smart. And now, Yankee fans were seen highlighting these setbacks online.
Fans express discontent with Mike Trout in Yankees
One user outright rejected the possibility of Mike Trout in the New York Yankees by saying he is too injured, and where is the lie? Trout has struggled with injuries for five years; the last time he even played a full season was in the shortened season in 2020. This season started well; he even led the MLB in home runs for a bit. Until, of course, he got injured and got sidelined again!
Too often injured.

Another fan pointed out that Mike Trout simply can’t stay on the field. And truly, the man has been held up with injuries—in 2018, he injured his wrist, and in 2022, he injured his hand. Then, in 2021, he injured his calf and missed 139 days; the next year he injured his back, and in April 2024, he tore his meniscus. He went on to get surgery and couldn’t make a comeback even when he tried.
Because he can’t stay on the field.

One commenter simply doesn’t find the need to get an injured person to the lineup, calling it outright ‘stupid’! Giancarlo Stanton was injured and out this season; the Yanks already suffered by a mile because of this. So obviously, their fans wouldn’t want a player with a history of injuries to make it into the team. But Trout isn’t just connected to the Yanks this off-season but to the Phillies too by fans since his hometown is near Philadelphia!
We don’t need any more players on the IL. Are you stupid?

Mike Trout is no doubt a good player when he is healthy. Plus, his team also updated that it is ready to go for the next season. But the Yankees simply cannot take on that massive of a contract. Another user highlighted that if the Angels ate some of his salary, then maybe it could be possible. Almost maybe $200 million, realistically, and only then, it’s possible; otherwise, Hal Steinbrenner shelling this much for a player who, for the last five years, has been injured constantly seems only a dream.

Another fan was shocked that anyone would want that contract between the Yankees and Mike Trout. However, it’s crucial to know that right now Mike Trout is doing things to mend the way forward. A lot of talk was going on about how he should lose weight; in a Christmas post by Mike Trout, he is looking really lean. Plus, he also is open to shifting positions and going to less challenging spots.
You seriously want that contract?
