First part of the October Classic in 2008 with the Tampa Bay Rays, Evan Longoria lost. The third baseman believed he would find the opportunity to play in the Fall Classic again. But he never imagined that it would be a decade and a half later. At 38 years old, Longoria is no doubt in the twilight of his career, having never won the ultimate trophy. But with the Diamondbacks, he may finally have a chance.

On getting another crack at winning the World Series, Longoria remarked to AP News, ?I definitely have a different appreciation and respect for the opportunity.? The slugger is not only going to do his best on the plate but also has another responsibility. The leadership qualities a veteran provides to the team can never be surpassed, and Longoria is here for this.
Now, 15 years after his last Fall Classic appearance with the Tampa Bay Rays, Evan Longoria has a great deal to prove. As a rookie, he did not manage to secure a win. At the age of 23, he never reached beyond the AL Division Series. But his journey is nonetheless historic.

Only Jim Kaat at 17 seasons and Dennis Martinez and Babe Adams with 16 seasons have had more of a World Series appearance gap. “Even in going to the postseason ? it doesn?t feel the same, obviously, as coming all the way and having a chance to play in the World Series,” he shed light on his Fall Classic return.
With a .223 batting average this season, the third baseman has 11 homers and 28 RBI. While not at the top of the list, there’s still hope for Ecvan Longoria. Now with the D-backs, the slugger is playing in the starting lineup for the World Series.
