Derek Jeter, a future five-time World Champion, was born in New Jersey, but at the tender age of four, he and his family relocated to Kalamazoo, Michigan. From a very young age, baseball became a passion for Derek Jeter, who, in little to no time, became an ardent supporter of the New York Yankees. In 1992, at 18, Jeter entered his name into the MLB draft. But prior to that, the shortstop received a baseball scholarship from the University of Michigan, before eventually representing the Michigan Wolverines.
This was where Captain Clutch’s relationship with the University of Michigan (or U-M) began. However, almost two decades after representing the Wolverines, Jeter’s adoration for Michigan got the better of him, when he made a bold and questionable decision, making his dressed-up fiance wait while he grounded himself, fully immersed in the television set.
Talk about a love so strong it makes you do crazy things!
