For the longest time, Alex Rodriguez wanted to own a sports team. In 2021, he started working toward that dream, and along with ex-Walmart CEO Marc Lore, A-Rod made an attempt to purchase a stake in the New York Mets. However, A-Rod and Lore were outbid by Steve Cohen and his unending fortune. Later, the pair shifted their focus to the NBA and eventually made their first down payment in July 2021 to buy a 20% stake in the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Most recently, in the presence of both their owners, the Timberwolves finally rose to the occasion, and won a critical game against the Western Conference toppers – Denver Nuggets to stay competing in the league.

Now, after losing the first three games of the first playoff round against the Denver Nuggets, the Timberwolves have finally made a strong comeback by beating the Nuggets 114-108 at Target Center.
