“Had Goosebumps the Whole Day”: 21-Year-Old Rookie Anthony Volpe Expresses His Feelings After Hectic MLB Debut

After months of waiting and keeping fans on edge, Major League Baseball is back to life. Opening day started with the New York Yankees hosting and winning their first game against the San Francisco Giants. A game and a win like this do not come often, but this one was extra special for 21-year-old rookie shortstop Anthony Volpe. It is because after showing great potential in spring training, Volpe was called up to the Majors and had every New Yorker’s eyes on him.

Needless to say, the young star had quite a lot of pressure on him. But he did not let the pressure get to him and enjoyed his debut game in the big leagues. However, while doing so, he not only showed a lot of promise but also lived up to the fans’ expectations. 

What did Anthony Volpe say about his first day in Yankee Stadium?

As special as it was for the fans watching Volpe on the diamond, it was extra special for the Yankees’ number-one prospect. The player had seen a dream, grown up idolizing Derek Jeter, and now he was living it.

After the game, during a press conference, Volpe talked about his feelings about his debut game. Helping his team win and the fans rooting for him boosted his confidence to the maximum.

While speaking about his first day, he said, “It was probably the most fun day of my entire life. The whole pre-game festivities, I probably had goosebumps the whole day, just be out there and feel like welcomed by the fans the way they did and then be able to go out and just play, that was probably the best part.”
