Juan Soto just revealed he hasn’t spoken to any of the Yankees players, and that just broke Bronx fans’ hearts a little. After Soto joined the team, his fiery presence made many think of him as a permanent member, but well, nothing lasts forever. So why has Soto stopped talking to the players he once shared a clubhouse with? That’s still one mystery only Soto or the Yankees can truly solve.
Maybe there’s a quiet sadness about the split, or it is possible that they never built that deep bond to begin with. But one thing is for sure: Juan Soto is happy with the Mets, and how could he not be? Soto’s joining a squad with one of the best lineups in the league, plus, that record-breaking paycheck? Let’s be real, who wouldn’t be thrilled with that kind of money?

Aaron Judge on Juan Soto’s free agency
Aaron Judge was in the same position a few seasons ago. During that time, Anthony Rizzo was doing everything he could to make Judge stay with the Yanks—that kind of effort is what the fans expected to see among team members. But this hasn’t been the case with Juan Soto; instead, the Yankees center fielder and DH had decided to give him space to think about his decision. In an interview with ESPN, Judge said, “I haven’t talked to him at all. I think the best thing is to really give those guys space. And I talked to him all season. He knows how we feel about him.”

There’s also another thing, though. Analyst and writer Andy Martino recently revealed that Juan Soto was not made available to talk to players, especially the ones from teams involved very much during the free agency process. In a recent press conference, Soto was seen wearing the Mets uniform, probably for the first time. In the same event, the 26-year-old revealed how he hasn’t talked to any of the players from his former team. And now, this video posted online is garnering strong reactions from fans, with some even questioning his team spirit.
Fans react to Soto not talking to his former team members
Juan Soto’s move from the Yankees to the Mets has certainly stirred up a lot of emotions in the baseball world. Fans are left with mixed reactions, from admiration to frustration. In a video posted on Instagram, fans have flooded the comment section, with one user remarking, “Great clubhouse guy 🫡,” which takes a jab at Soto’s off-field persona. Using sarcasm and highlighting that Soto is indeed not a great clubhouse guy, as no player made any effort to bring him back, this fan’s take reflected on the player’s behavior off the field. Soto must have lacked a bond with the pinstripes outside the arena, and hence, fans are now seeming pissed.

Another comment was a direct hit to the Yankees captain: “Soto watched Judge drop that ball like, ‘I’m not even that bad” 😂,” While Aaron Judge had a spectacular season, his postseason missteps cost them the trophy. After Judge’s struggles during the playoffs, some fans are now mocking the idea that the Dominican player might have seen those mishaps and left. With a similar sentiment, another commenter wrote, “Bro, still mad about the 5th inning.” This refers to the Yankees’ playoff failings in the 2024 postseason.
The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series after the Yankees committed three major fielding errors in the top of the inning. With a 5-0 lead, New York gave up five runs in the 5th inning that became instantly infamous. Besides these claims, some fans simply put the blame on Soto, with one comment reading, “MLB’s Kevin Durant.” It was a direct comparison to Kevin Durant’s controversial moves in the NBA, particularly referencing when he left Oklahoma City for Golden State, a team already stacked with talent. The parallel is clear: fans feel like Juan Soto is jumping from one powerhouse team (the Yankees) to another (the Mets).
One enthusiast compared how Judge’s free agency was much different from that of Soto. The user wrote, “Meanwhile, Rizzo was bribing Judge with doggie playdates 🐶🥺.” Evidently, in Judge’s case, his best friend and Yankees teammate, Anthony Rizzo, was possibly trying to win Judge’s loyalty (and keep him in New York) with some “puppy love.” He was indeed arranging playdates for their pets, and looks like it worked, didn’t it?

Subsequently, some fans went too far with their harsh comments, as one of them wrote, “Money-hungry sellout. Keep jumping teams, bud.” They highlighted the feeling that Juan Soto is following the money and hopping from team to team for financial gain rather than sticking with a team through thick and thin. This reaction sums up the frustration some Bronx fans have when they see a player move for financial reasons, particularly when the player leaves behind a squad with high expectations—for Soto, it seems his priorities are different.
In the end, while the dissatisfactions will likely continue to evolve, one thing is certain: Juan Soto is no longer a Yankee, and with a deal like that, he’s already ensured his place in history, both on and off the field.
