As of now, apart from the New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge, Anthony Volpe, the 21-year-old rookie, who’s making sure to announce himself in the major leagues, remain two of the most talked about players in the Pinstripes clubhouse. After losing the first game of the series to the Blue Jays in the Bronx, the much-anticipated battle of aces between Alek Manoah and Gerrit Cole lived up to expectations, as the New York Yankees emerged victorious with DJ LeMahieu’s walk-off in the final innings to take the lead.

As soon as the game was over, captain Aaron Judge, along with the rookie, and injured Harrison Bader, traveled ten miles to Madison Square Garden to watch game three of the Rangers-Devils series.

Judge, Volpe, and Bader, who sat beside each other at Madison Square Garden, received a special shout-out on the video board during the second period of the game. The Yankees captain, who is a notable Rangers fan, was decked in the Rangers jersey with a big A.

Being the face of the Yankees, Judge is not a stranger to immense fandom and attention, but when the spotlight was on the 21-year-old Manhattan-born shortstop, an awkward and shy smile made its way to the big screen.

With Manoah and Cole both at the top of the game, no run was scored until the eighth innings, when Anthony Volpe smashed a two-run homer off reliever Yimi García with another Baby Bomber, Oswald Peraza, on base. The Blue Jays leveled the score in the ninth. However, with all the bases loaded, DJ smashed a walk-off drive clearing the five-men infield to win the game.

After the game, Volpe spoke about his game-defining homer, and said, “It was pretty crazy. I didn’t really know what was going on, I guess. I didn’t want to assume and go out or anything like that, but once I got told to, it was pretty cool.”
