Alec Bohm is in one of the most entertaining dugouts in baseball, and they have the most entertaining player in Bryce Harper. During his time there, he was the witness to one of the wildest things that Bryce Harper has done after an ejection.
During an interview with Foul Territory, Bohm explained what happens when Bryce Harper is raging. He said, “Bryce is walking off the field after he lets Angel know he missed one, and he launches his helmet over the net. Over my head, over the, over the dugout, over the net into the stands.” Well, now we understand why many people stay away from Bryce Harper when he is angry.

During a game against the Pirates, the umpire called Bryce Harper out on a check swing that most fans could see was not a swing. With Harper getting ready to walk, Angel Hernandez standing at third called it a swing. Bryce Harper flipped out on Hernandez. After getting tossed out, Harper threw his helmet so hard that it landed in the stands.

It was a lucky day for Hayden Dorfman, the 10-year-old kid who caught it at Citizens Bank Park. Bryce Harper later asked for the helmet, signed it, and gave it back to the kid. Addressing this incident after the Phillies lost 3-2, Harper said, “After the fact, I was walking off, I wasn’t too upset anymore. I kind of got all of it out. I just threw my helmet in the stands because I didn’t need it anymore. Got the kid, ending up signing it for him and he was super happy. It was good.”
In this scene that Harper caused, the league asked the slugger to pay a fine of $5,000. Hence, the 28-year-old third basemen rightly pointed out, “I think Bryce got in a little trouble.”
Harper’s ejection wasn’t just a tantrum—it was a full-blown spectacle, complete with souvenirs for the fans. While $5,000 might seem like a steep price for a helmet toss, consider it a premium for premium entertainment. After all, some players get fined for breaking the rules—Harper gets fined for putting on a show.
