Derek Jeter is now an avid golfer. The former baseballer has left his mark on the sport from his years with the New York Yankees. A 5x World Series champion and captain of the Bronx Bombers for 11 years, the Hall of Famer has left a significant legacy in MLB. However, as it must be so for every player, retirement was the inevitable end. However, Captain Clutch has recently shown his interest in golf for a noble cause.
Jeter hung up his cleats for the last time in 2014, but his competitive nature never left him. After baseball, the former shortstop took up golf next. It also helps that he is friends with legendary golfer Tiger Woods, who has praised his skills more than once. Jeter also holds an annual tournament for his non-profit, the Turn 2 Foundation. And recently, he took part in another golf game in a philanthropic effort.

American Family Insurance recently held a tourney to raise money for the American Family Children’s Hospital. Taking part in the Celebrity Foursome with some other big names in sports, like golfers Andy North and Zach Johnson, as well as 28x Olympic medalist Michael Phelps.
Interestingly, Jeter has always claimed that his skills with a club in hand are nothing to boast about. He has famously never won a game at his Derek Jeter Celebrity Invitational, although that is understandable given he’s the host. “I’m not a good golfer at all. Don’t expect much from me,” he said at the game held in June. “I’ve got four kids that are under six,” he added.
Always a great time at @amfamchamp supporting a great cause.

However, it was he who won the game, along with the 2023 U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Zach Johnson. Phelps, who happens to be a golf lover too, was surprisingly left behind.

The swimmer has participated in various Pro-Ams, such as the Ryder Cup, Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, and Waste Management Open. Nevertheless, it was Jeter and Johnson’s duo that stole the show.
Jeter and Johnson Raise $25,000 for Charity
The former Yankee happens to be an American Family brand ambassador who took part in the charity’s golf event for the fourth time this year. Not only that but according to NBC 15, the Hall of Famer, along with Johnson, had $25,000 donated in his name by the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation.
