World Baseball Classic is the grandest stage of them all. Where the roar of the crowd reverberates throughout the arena. And home runs soar high into the sky in a never-ending arc. And amidst it all, are the stars of the show. The best players from all over the world fighting for glory. They do not want to win just for themselves. But for the whole nation, who are standing behind them like looming figures, lending their team strength through a symphony of their voices and spirit. 

So imagine the moment when the Venezuelan team, who had been desperately hoping to win against their long-time rivals, the Dominican Republic, actually won against them for the first time ever in the WBC. The game had an atmosphere humming with electric energy, as the two teams swapped strikeouts in the early innings. But Venezuela pulled ahead in the fourth inning and went on to secure a win of 5-1.

As they won, hearts soared and screams roared, the Venezuelan team converged, running towards each other at a blazing speed, patting each other on the backs and hugging it out with fervor. The apparent happiness that flooded out of them was infectious as the crowd chimed in as well. But their celebrations didn’t end there.

The whole team went out to celebrate. As is seen in Gleyber Torres’ live video, the team is having the time of their lives dancing and chanting, having unbridled fun. The Yankee is wearing his MLB jersey and is in high spirits. The environment is lit up with the whole team just feeling free as if at that moment they were infinite.

Torres then panned the camera to Anthony Santander, an outfielder for the Baltimore Orioles, who dominated the floor with his exceptional dancing jig. And even the hungriest members of the team weren’t safe from the lively shenanigans. As one of their teammates enjoyed a well-deserved meal, someone snatched his plate and ran away with it, leaving the rest of them in stitches. All in all, it was a good day for the Venezuelan baseball team and the country as a whole! 

Highlights of the Venezuelan play at the World Baseball Classic: 

The matchup between the Dominican Republic and Venezuela was certainly a thrilling one! Anthony Santander made a grand entrance, blasting a home run to tie the game at 1 in the second inning. But it was Luis Garcia who stole the show, setting a personal World Baseball Classic record by striking out seven batters and allowing only two walks, which is phenomenal! Los Angeles Dodgers David Peralta played a huge role in leading the team to victory as he stepped up to the plate and smashed an RBI double.
