Cue “The Boys Are Back in Town” for the return of Giancarlo Stanton. The 2017 NL MVP has failed to recreate his best form ever since joining the New York Yankees. Plagued with injuries, the slugger has been seen as an expensive mistake by many long-time Yankees fans. But even amidst his biggest critics there lies a hope to see Stanton’s return to glory.
Yankees GM Brian Cashman recently talked to reporters in a video conference. While talking about his team’s progress and plan, he gave an encouraging update on the slugger. With the Pinstripes aiming for glory in 2024, Stanton could prove to be a secret weapon for the Big Apple squad.

After missing nearly 50 games in most of the seasons since joining the Yankees, Giancarlo Stanton has drawn fan ire. Partly due to a lack of good performance but majorly due to his huge salary – the fans have questioned Stanton’s position in the roster. Amidst this negativity, the outfielder has been aiming for a strong comeback and GM Brian Cashman has taken notice of it. According to The Athletic, Cashman was all praises for Big G.
Praising his tact while training, the GM said that the slugger was “in a really good place between his diet and his offseason conditioning.” Noticing how Stanton has always been a feared hitter, Cashman hoped that he’d finally be able to experience good health in the Pinstripes.
2023 was a low point. The slugger had a dismal average of .191 and missed 61 games due to injuries. Ever since 2018, Stanton hasn’t touched 140 games in any season and has gradually experienced a decline in most of his stats. But things could be changing soon for the 34-year-old, with most reports indicating that the slugger has switched up his training regime and playing style.

Stanton’s return to form would certainly be a huge boost for the Yankees. While the Pinstripes have invested heavily in their hitting lineup this offseason, a healthy Big G would no doubt send the team to the next level.
The Bombers need the slugger to come back stronger
Apart from an injury-infested 2019 and the pandemic hit 2020, Stanton has hit over 20 home runs in every season. Even in his terrible 2023, he managed to hit 24 homers. Apart from Aaron Judge and the newly acquired Juan Soto, the Pinstripes still lack a reliable heavy hitter. Stanton is tailor-made for that role if only he returns to his herculean form.
