When a player establishes their name in a particular sport, sometimes it comes as a surprise to see them excelling at another game. However, some individuals have that athletic physique that they just naturally shine in whatever physical activity they choose. Pro baseballers like Mookie Betts, Deion Sanders, and Bo Jackson, among many others, all have skills in more than just baseball. And the recent addition to this particular roster is Olympic medalist Eddy Alvarez.

An infielder for the Milwaukee Brewers, Alvarez plays in the minor leagues. In addition to baseball, however, the 33-year-old is also a talented speed skater. After numerous knee injuries and subsequent surgery left him unlikely to return to the ice, Alvarez dedicated himself to baseball. But he hasn’t completely given up on his love of skating just yet.

Be it the ice or be it plain ground, Alvarez can go through them all at top speed. Obstacles like chairs and couches, or even walls, aren’t enough to stop him from rocketing around. At a recent clubhouse meeting, he showed up to the room in his roller skates amid cheers and proceeded to take laps of the room after taking off his shirt.

The Brewers posted the clip to their Twitter account with the caption, “Eddy Alvarez: ✅ 2X Olympic silver medalist (Speed skating, baseball) ✅ Nailed a clubhouse sprint”. He went on to show videos of himself competing as a skater in childhood, much to the amusement of the rest of the players. Everyone cheered for him loudly and the video ended with sounds of applause.

What did the fans think of this display?

Even though it looked like Alvarez could smack into anything or anyone at any given moment, he handled it well. After all, being an Olympian is a serious matter. Fans certainly found this display entertaining.

Even former Brewers star Brett Phillips, who currently plays for the Angels, was impressed.

Alvarez’s sister, who is a radio personality, also got a mention.

The Alvarezes are truly a talented bunch. Eddy is only the sixth to win a medal in both the Winter and Summer Olympic Games and has a stellar career.
